Memory failures of everyday questionnaire (MFE)

One of the most recent studies on the predominance of cognitive deterioration in Spain points out that about 18.5% of the persons older than 65 years endures this condition. (Vega Alonso et al. 2016).

Of them, some of them already have dementia and others mild cognitive impairment (of these about 60% also will develop dementia).

Then: Why is not a habitual practice to value the cognitive state? Why do we worry about knowing so much how we have the cholesterol or the glucose but we do not worry about the brain?

Maybe for fear, for ignorance, and for the absence of social conscience on these topics.

The cognitive deterioration is an alteration of the intellectual functioning. The cognitive function comprises processes as the memory, the language, the spatial orientation, anyway, all that allow us to know and interact with our environment.

When a person has cognitive deterioration, one or several of the processes it has a bad functioning, for example, the affected one forgets things that are supposed to remember, like the things he/she does in its everyday life.

The cognitive deterioration is a condition that is evident in diverse grades. There are persons with mild cognitive impairment, another very popular term and that implies that problems exist, but these do not go so far as to affect significantly the daily life, while others have a cognitive deterioration so advanced that it already implies the existence of a dementia.
We leave you in this one link, a questionnaire that you can do yourselves, with the target to verify your ‘cognitive health’. If you get a punctuation upper to 50, it is recommended to come to a professional to realize a more exhaustive evaluation.

What is the neuroplasticity or cerebral plasticity?

The neuroplasticity o cerebral plasticity is the aptitude that the neuronal textile has to reorganizing and to be modified according to its interaction with the environment, adapting itself to the received stimuli, to readjust the function and structure of our brain.

This adaptive potential of the nervous system makes possible that the neurons could be restored of injuries and restore the alterations produced in pathologies like Brain Injury, neurodegenerative illness, spinal cord injuries, or cognitive disorders.

The evidence informs that the cerebral plasticity takes place along the whole life of a person. The brain, through the learning and the experience, possesses the constant aptitude to reorganize during the childhood, in the maturity and in the elderly.

This allows the patients with neurological illness to acquire new knowledge and skills. For that reason, it is important to consider the possibility of a partially or totally recovery of lost functions.

More and more studies relate the use of the different neurorehabilitation therapies with the development of cerebral plasticity, being the results notorious and measurable.

In that way, it is important to start the rehabilitation as soon as possible so we can be benefited from this ability, and create new neuronal connections.

Physiotherapy in the treatment of neurological disorders

The rehabilitation is a fundamental part in the recovery of any neurological disorder. There exists evidence of the benefits of the physical therapy in the process of rehabilitation of the patients, as well as the importance of beginning the treatment as soon as possible, with a frequency and notable intensity, developing the therapies in a constant and regular way. Also it is fundamental for the success, the fact that the patient would be completely involved in the therapy, with a high level of motivation and interest. This is largely a work of the physiotherapist.

There exists multiple therapies to be used with regard to the procedure of the rehabilitation, from the most conventional until the introduction of new technologies, as the robotics, or the Virtual Reality systems. The most important thing is to adapt and to select any of the methods, to the needs and demands of each patient.

We must not forget that the purpose of the treatment is to achieve the most functionality as possible, in order to the patient could recover its autonomy in his/her Activities of Daily Living.

Wed must consider the ‘neuroplasticity concept’, phenomenon by which our brain possesses the capacity of reorganizing and modifying the neuronal mechanisms, adapting itself to the received stimuli, to readjust the function and structure of the neuronal connectors.

The above mentioned process happens in healthy and with pathology individuals, therefore it is important to bear in mind in case of neurological patients, so these modifications can happen during the development of its recovery.

We should underline, that the final goal of the physiotherapist should be integrating into the proper therapy, being connected with the patient and its needs, to receive an attention personalized and nearby, directed to improve the quality of life of the patients.

Changing our trade dress: to renew or to die

Ghandi said: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” Anyway, the change is inevitable. It is a quality of the life, a preamble of the growth and the cycle of the whole world.

The reason for a change can be a lot and diverse. In our case, it is the answering of a desire of overcoming and progress.

We want to be part of your every day, we want to help you in your purposes and we look forward to being witnesses of your recovery.

It is well known, that we are the oldest neuro rehabilitation center in both León and the Principality of Asturias provinces. Moreover, the fact that we formed plenty of professionals whom are nowadays working all over Spain.

Nevertheless, there was a time, we were always working and studying, and we went out of fashion as a technology refers.

We had to do self-criticism, and thanks to it, we have realized, that current society (more and more demanding) needs more services, than it was demanding twenty years ago.

This way, we have extended our services, have looked for the most vanguards concepts in the USA, we have included the new technologies and we finally, have placed as the professional leaders that we are.

This change, gives us the opportunity to notice, that the name and corporate image are not only something commercial, but also are the ideals and values of a company. The ones that make the difference from others.

So, in order to reflect our change and transformation, Redacer center, which has always differed from others in the quality of our treatments and the high training of our professionals, starts to name ‘NeuroRedacer’.

The prefix ‘Neuro’ restyle the name with the object of emphasize its application field.
